Contributory Aged Parent visa
- This permanent visa lets the aged parent of a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen stay in Australia.
- This is the ONLY parent visa applicants are entitled for Bridging Visa while applying in Australia.
- No MEDICARE enrolment possible unless applicant is on a temporary contributory parent visa, or the applicant is a temporary resident covered by a Ministerial Order.
- This visa has a high cost
- The visa fee is paid in 2 separate instalments
You must
- have an eligible child who is a settled Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen
- meet all applicable visa conditions and follow Australian law
- not have already applied for or hold a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) (subclass 870) visa when applying for this visa.
- be sponsored by an eligible child
- be old enough to receive the age pension in Australia
- must meet the balance-of-family test (at least half of your children and step-children are eligible children, or there are more eligible children living in Australia than in any other single country)
- must be able to obtain an assurance of support
- meet health / character requirements
- must be in Australia at the time of application and grant of the visa , but can travel overseas with Bridging Visa B.
