Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) - Visas with Permanent Residence status

The ENS Visa allows employers in Australia who meet the criteria for the scheme to nominated current employees and prospective employees for Australian permanent residence. There are two categories of visas consists in this group.

Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS – SUBCLASS 186)-Direct Entry

The occupation for this category visa should be in the Consolidated Skills Occupation List (CSOL) . For this visa you have the minimum qualifications as follows:

  • Have been nominated by an approved Australian employer within the six months before you apply
  • Have required academic qualifications and skills for the position
  • Have at least three years of relevant work experience , unless you are exempt
  • Have appropriate English language skills (at the time of application lodgement), unless you are exempt

Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS – SUBCLASS 186)-Temporary Residence Transition Scheme

For this visa you have the minimum qualifications as follows:

  • hold a Temporary Work (Skilled) visa (subclass 457)
  • worked for two years in the same position your employer nominated you for while you held your subclass 457 visa as the primary visa holder
  • your employer has nominated you for a permanent position under this stream, and the nomination has been approved.
  • have at least vocational English (unless you are exempt from this requirement), which you can demonstrate if you:
    • have a score of at least 5 for each of the four test IELTS
    • have a score of at least ‘B’ in each of the four components of an Occupational English Test that is relevant to you
    • hold a valid passport issued by the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, New Zealand or the Republic of Ireland

Regional Sponsord Migration Scheme (Subclass 187) –RSMS Direct Entry

  • Have been nominated by an approved Australian employer in Regional Australia within six months before you apply
  • Are under the age of 50 at time of application lodgement, unless you are exempt
  • At time of application lodgement, have the required skills and qualifications for the position you have been nominated for
  • At time of application lodgement, have appropriate English language skills for Direct Entry (DE) stream unless you are exempt
  • Have a score of at least 6 for each of the four test IELTS, or
  • Have a score of at least 'B' in each of the four components of an Occupation English Test (OET), or
  • Hold a valid passport issued by the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Canada, New Zealand or the Republic of Ireland

Regional Sponsord Migration Scheme (Subclass 187) –RSMS Temporary Residence transition Scheme

  • You are the holder of a Temporary Work (Skilled) visa (subclass 457) and you satisfied the primary criteria for that visa
  • You have worked for two years in the position your employer nominated you for while you held your Temporary Work (Skilled) (subclass 457) visa
  • Your employer has nominated you for a permanent position under this stream and the nomination has been approved
  • At time of application lodgement, have appropriate English language skills for Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) stream unless you are exempt
  • Have a score of at least 5 for each of the four test IELTS components, or
  • Have a score of at least 'B' in each of the four components of an Occupational English Test (OET), or
  • Hold a valid passport issued by the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Canada, New Zealand or the Republic of Ireland, or
  • Have completed at least five years of full time study in a secondary and/or higher education institution where all of the tuition was delivered in English
